The November weather was kind and the Weybrook course was in good condition for Bunkers 250th event since its formation in 2000. This was also the final event in Bunkers annual “Order of Merit” contest in which players total their six best event points (out of the ten events). The finale had the makings of a very tight finish with Tony Peters leading Nick Rothery by only one point with Ian Turvill a few points back in third place. All to play for !
However Nick Rothery smashed it with 41 Stableford points to win the Order of Merit and the Weybrook event. He also won a nearest the pin prize - so quite a day for Nick !!! John Thorp finished second in the Weybrook field with 39 Stableford points.
Dinner was lovely Steak Pie, Mash, Carrots and some (undercooked) green beans which were a chewing challenge. Desert was sponge with custard and artistic chocolate sauce swirls.
Captain Dave Shorter was lenient with the fines. Ian T was fined for hitting the telegraph pole on the 3rd fairway and for some frustrated club dumping. Nick was fined for playing stupendous recovery shots from the wrong fairways. Frazer fined for standing in a stream of water to play his shot on the 14th hole. Darren was fined for buying a course planner !!
A great day to finish Bunkers competitive season with just the “Christmas Bash” at Test Valley in December to wrap up the 2025 season.
