The weather was fine and sunny with a mild breeze. The Goring & Streatley course was in absolutely first class condition. The fairways allowed the ball to run as did the greens which had some tricky pin positions and wicked slopes. Special mention to the wild flower areas beyond the fairway first cut - avoid them at all costs - very pretty and good for wildlife but lethal for losing golf balls ! The clubhouse was very welcoming and the food was great. An unusual meal choice was available and it was delicious. Monkfish tail with new potatoes, samphire, red peppers and tomatoes (well done chef) followed by fruit crumble and custard. Top marks to G & S
The scoring was "HOT" with eight of the twelve players recording scores of 36 points or more. In fact four players finished on 36 points and Ian Turvill rightly felt aggrieved to finish in eighth place on countback. 36 points would have won the same event last year !
Skill nearest the pin prizes were won by Tony Peters ( 3" from a hole in one)

Rick Britton and Nick Rothery (two skill prizes !).
Nick was on very fine form and his playing partners reported his putting was very impressive so it's not a surprise to report he won the event with 43 points gaining his first ever Bunker Trophy. Second place to David Beck on 40 points and 3rd place to Rick Britton with 38 points. Tony Peters was presented an engraved whisky glass to commemorate his 150th Bunkers event (first one was in 2004).
Captain Dave Shorter had a short list of fines but as usual Steve Walsh was generous with his misdemeanour's, bad card marking (Mark Bilsborough too), hitting his 4th shot out of a gorse bush 2ft off the ground and failing, Steve also ate 4 portions of cake at lunchtime and had green knees gained keeling in the grass ! Tony Peters fined for not getting a hole-in-one and also for getting close on every par three. Nick Rothery fined for playing like a proper Bandit.
